Dear Early Professionals Ocean Career (ECOPs),

Registration is now open for the OceanPrediction DCC Global Hybrid Event 2026.

This global hybrid event will bring together regional teams, scientists, early career professionals, institutions and partners working on ocean forecasting.

In partnership with the ECOP Programme, it will highlight regional perspectives, real-world applications, and the role of ocean forecasting in supporting climate resilience, coastal safety, food security and sustainable ocean governance.

Dear Early Career Ocean Professional,

I hope this message finds you well!

My name is Houssam, and I am the Mediterranean and Black Sea ECOP representative for the OceanPrediction Decade Collaborative Centre (OceanPrediction DCC). I am reaching out because we are preparing something truly exciting for the OceanPrediction DCC Global Hybrid Event 2026, taking place from 3–5 November 2026 — and we need passionate early career professionals like you.

Film a Short Video for Our Regional Session!

As part of our 2-hour regional session on "Ocean Prediction in Semi-Enclosed Seas: Challenges & Opportunities in the Mediterranean & Black Sea", we are inviting ECOPs to create short, impactful videos (1–3 minutes), filmed in real locations. These videos will be one of the highlights of the session and will compete for the Best Video / Visual Storytelling Award

Each video should follow this simple, powerful structure:

1- Show the problem (coastal erosion, marine heatwaves, mucilage, poor fishing conditions, pollution…)

2- Explain how ocean forecasting or early warning systems help

3- Show the positive impact (safer communities, healthier ecosystems, sustainable fisheries or tourism…)

Suggested filming locations (any relevant place near you works!):

•          A beach affected by coastal erosion (e.g., Tangier, Tunis, or your local coast)

•          An underwater Posidonia seagrass meadow (Greece, Italy…)

•          A fishing port in the Black Sea or Mediterranean

•          A boat at sea or a coastline affected by mucilage, pollution, or invasive species

No professional equipment needed — authenticity and passion matter most! We will help with music and subtitles to make the videos even more engaging.
