Happy World Reef Awareness Day and World Oceans Month/National Ocean Month 2026, especially to my fellow members of Reef Resilience Network!
With the Reef Day kicking off the celebration of Oceans Month, as a member of UNESCO-IOC’s Ocean Literacy Community, Blue Thread network, Ocean Literacy Research Community and OceanExpert registry roster, I’m starting today a cleanup of the Ocean Friendly Garden at Arcadia Ecohome and the Sidewalk Garden parallel with street curbs & gutters in front of the Ecohome Microforest, in order to reducing stormwater pollution that adversely impacts our ocean and coastal ecology, and a online educational campaign for ocean literacy. Today I offered advices to engage ocean & reef friendly landscaping to a colleague of mine at an overseas university some years ago as part of my educational campaigns for World Reef Day and World Oceans Day 2026 on, respectively, June 1 and 8.
