A virtual meeting was convened on 18 June 2026 (0700–0900 UTC) by the IOTWMS Secretariat and IOTIC, bringing together stakeholders from the ESCAP and FUST projects across participating countries—India, Iran, Madagascar, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and the UAE—as well as participants and experts of the upcoming Training of Facilitators (ToF) in Bali, Indonesia.
The meeting focused on coordination and progress related to the implementation of the Tsunami Ready initiative. Key agenda items included:
- An overview of the ESCAP and FUST projects and introductions of country teams;
- A briefing on the ToF programme and participant preparations;
- Presentations on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for National Tsunami Warning Centres (NTWCs) and Local Disaster Management Offices (LDMOs);
- Updates and feedback from countries on pilot communities for the Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme (TRRP), as well as the status of hazard and inundation maps and SOP development;
- Closing remarks.
The meeting provided an opportunity to align efforts, clarify next steps, and strengthen collaboration among participating countries and implementing partners.
