I am also a member of IUCN:
1. World Commission on
Protected Areas (WCPA) and specialist group on World Heritage
2. World Commission on
Environmental Law (WCEL)
With my dual science (PhD in Marine Biology) and environmental law (LL.M. in International Environmental Law) qualifications and skills, my Science Diplomacy expertise focuses on international environmental law and MEAs, area-based
management tools (ABMTs) such as marine protected areas (MPAs) and conserved
areas (OECMs) for transboundary biodiversity conservation, natural resources
management, Blue Economy, traditional knowledge and benefit-sharing in ensuring fair and
equitable socio-economy outcomes for the marine and coastal communities.
To achieve these, I peruse
provisions in important multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs).
These include UNCLOS
and its IAs; CBD and its 2 protocols and recent K-M GBF including the famous Target
3 on 30x30; UNFCCC and PA, Ramsar, CMS, BBNJ, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, IMO and
FAO rules and guidelines, etc.
