Activities
María has over 12 years of
experience addressing key issues in coastal and marine environments in a
multidisciplinary manner, working with complex numerical models capable of
accurately predicting the response of oceanic-coastal systems under severe conditions.
María is an expert in enhancing and developing new capabilities in fully
coupled three-dimensional modeling systems (waves, tides, ocean circulation,
water quality, sediment transport, and pollutant dispersion), optimizing their
numerical accuracy and efficiency, parallelization, and application to
high-performance computing (HPC). She has spent a significant portion of her
career working on European and international projects in Spain, Belgium, North
America, and Norway. Currently, she works at the Polytechnic University of
Catalonia, being part of a cutting-edge team developing an Operational Maritime
Prediction System for the European Commission.
