Activities
In collaboration with country programs and CI’s policy team, support governments to prepare for and engage in key international policy processes, including through regional bodies (eg SPREP). Priorities may shift over time, but current priorities include the UN High Seas Treaty, UN Convention on Biological Diversity, UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and other priorities as relevant.
Contribute to development of organizational policy positions and development of policy analyses, case studies, science-to-policy briefs etc., to inform negotiations and key decision-making processes.
Lead advocacy efforts for policy positions in Pacific region, including by developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with government representatives and like-minded organizations
Provide capacity building and targeted technical support to CI staff to engage their governments or other partners in achievement of CI’s policy objectives.
Plan and track programmatic activities to comply with international donor requirements and reporting.
Provide technical and negotiation, advisory support on ocean-climate nexus, biodiversity, climate change, oceans and community-based resilience.
