Subject Area
Marine and Coastal Engineering
Activities
Within the HYDRALAB IV and HYDRALAB III European Programmes, V. Stratigaki studied experimentally large Wave Energy Converter-arrays (DHI, Hørsholm-Denmark) and waves-vegetation interaction (UPC, Barcelona-Spain), respectively, by performing large-scale experiments. Her doctoral research has focused on numerical and experimental modelling of "near-field" and "far-field" wake effects of Wave Energy Converter farms. Her numerical work with phase-resolving wave propagation models focuses on studying wave penetration into harbours, wave diffraction around breakwaters/structures, wave transformation, farms of wave energy converters and wave energy resources.
Vasiliki Stratigaki has worked for several international and national research projects and as member of the CoastLab12 Conference Committee she has co-organized the “4th International Conference on the Application of Physical Modelling to Port and Coastal Protection” in Ghent (Belgium).
Skills
Dr. Vasiliki Stratigaki is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ghent University in Belgium with MSc in Civil Engineering, MSc in Environmental Studies and PhD in Coastal Engineering and Renewable Ocean Energy. Her research field includes wave modelling, grey infrastructures, ecohydraulics and renewable energies using numerical models and hydraulic model tests.
