Activities
PhD focusing on developing workflows based on multibeam multifrequency backscatter, bathymetry, geological, biological and hydrodynamic data to describe the distribution of sediments and marine species over a range of spatial scales. Specifically, examining the veracity of multifrequency multibeam backscatter data modelling spatial distribution of sandeel and harbour porpoises in the Malin-Hebrides Sea to enhance the monitoring the management in marine protected areas.
Sea regions of study
Celtic Sea
North Atlantic Ocean
Indian Ocean
Skills
1. GIS e. g ArcGIS
2. Spatial analysis e. g SeaDAS, Beam, R-programming package

9. Mangrove carbon stock assessment and monitoring
10. Field conservation skills (tropical ecosystems)
Comment(s)
A marine ecologist by background with key interests in understanding the distribution of biological communities over a range of spatial scales using a range of environmental variables derived from acoustic remote sensing, geological, biological and hydrodynamic data. Recommendations of which support marine spatial planning, monitoring and management in Special Areas of Conservations. Also, I pride myself as an avid conservation practitioner and have worked to promote participatory approaches to sustainable natural resources management.
