- Monitoring of the radiation situation;
- Monitoring of environmental pollution in terms of:
- atmospheric air (benz(a)pyrene, heavy metals);
- soil (heavy metals, pesticides);
- persistent organic pollutants (all components of the environment).
Within these areas, it solves the following tasks:
-scientific and methodological guidance of the state observation network when conducting observations of:
- the radiation situation in the Russian Federation;
- the level of soil contamination by industrial and agricultural toxicants;
- the level of atmospheric air pollution by benzo(a)pyrene and heavy metals;
- development of a scientific and methodological framework and monitoring of persistent pollutants in the environment.
- collection, analysis, summarization, and submission of state monitoring results to the State Fund:
- the radiation situation in the Russian Federation within the framework of the Unified State System for Monitoring and Control of Radiation in the Russian Federation and Adjacent Countries, including the preparation of the annual reports "On the Radiation Situation in the Russian Federation and Adjacent Countries" and "Data on the Radioactive Contamination of the Russian Federation's Settlements with Cesium-137, Strontium-90, and Plutonium-(239+240)";
- soil contamination by industrial and agricultural toxicants.
- preparation and implementation of a regulatory and methodological framework on the following issues:
- organizing the coordinated functioning of the state observation network and territorial and local observation systems within the framework of the state monitoring system for environmental conditions and pollution;
- assessment of the impact of radioactive and chemical pollution on natural objects based on monitoring data and model estimates, development of environmental safety criteria and standards.
