The Institute of Physics the Earth’s Interior & Geohzards (IFEGG) of the University Research Center (PEK) of the Hellenic Mediterranean University, is active in a wide range of research conducted in the scientific and technological fields of Seismology, Earth Physics and Earth Observation and Geoinformation.
In particular, it focuses its research efforts on the multidimensional study of seismic catastrophes, seismotectonics, earthquake prediction, multidisciplinary spatio-temporal seismic risk assessment and management, microzonal studies, the study of seismic sequences and the structure of the Earth’s upper mantle, in the mathematical simulation of flows, in the physics of geomaterials, in paleomagnetism and in the study of the structure of the interior of the Earth with seismological and observational geophysical methods (gravimetric, magnetic, seismic, electric, electromagnetic, radiometric), in determining the structure of the upper strata of economic, environmental and / or archaeological interest (archaeometry).
