Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani (JKP) is a regional economic bloc that brings together the six coastal counties of Kenya—Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River, Lamu, and Taita Taveta—to promote regional integration, sustainable development, and collective advocacy. The organization focuses on unlocking the economic potential of the Coastal region, with particular emphasis on the Blue Economy and marine-based livelihoods.
1. Blue Economy Development
JKP promotes sustainable utilization of ocean and coastal resources as a key economic driver. This includes development of regional Blue Economy strategies, attraction of investment in marine sectors, and advocacy for equitable sharing of maritime resources and revenues. The bloc also supports innovation and value addition in sea-based industries.
2. Fisheries and Aquaculture Development
JKP works to strengthen artisanal and commercial fisheries across the coastal counties. Key activities include:

Capacity building and institutional strengthening of Beach Management Units (BMUs)

Support for fisher cooperatives and community-based fishing associations
