Aplaya Collaborative Center for Conservation, Inc. implements community-based coastal conservation and climate adaptation initiatives grounded in a rights-based approach. The organization works with Indigenous and local coastal communities in Palawan to strengthen stewardship of marine and coastal ecosystems and advance the recognition of their rights to land, waters, livelihoods, and food sovereignty. Its activities include mangrove restoration, plastic pollution awareness, support for sustainable fisheries and food systems, and capacity building for community-led environmental governance. Aplaya also facilitates research and partnerships that promote nature-based solutions and reinforce the role of Indigenous Peoples and local communities as primary stewards of their coastal territories.
