The Directorate-General for Maritime Policy, of the Ministry of Economy, abbreviated as DGPM,
It is a central service of the direct administration of the State, endowed with administrative autonomy.
The DGPM's mission is to develop, evaluate and update the National Maritime Strategy (ENM), to elaborate and propose the national maritime policy in its various aspects, to plan and manage the maritime space in its different uses and activities, to monitor and participate in the development of the European Union's Integrated Maritime Policy, to promote national and international cooperation in the maritime field and to develop Ocean Literacy initiatives.
