Activities
Centre for Environment, Human Rights & Development Forum (CEHRDF) is a youth-led organization committed to advancing marine conservation, coastal resilience, and sustainable ocean governance in Bangladesh, with a strong focus on the Bay of Bengal. CEHRDF works at the intersection of environmental protection, human rights, and climate justice, particularly supporting vulnerable coastal communities. The organization leads community-based initiatives addressing marine pollution, overfishing, and ecosystem degradation, including campaigns such as the Fish Fry Save Movement, advocacy against destructive trawling practices, and coastal clean-up programs to reduce plastic pollution. CEHRDF has also mobilized grassroots action and policy advocacy against environmentally harmful projects, including the Matarbari Coal Power Plant, highlighting risks to fisheries, marine biodiversity, and coastal livelihoods. In addition to field-level interventions, CEHRDF actively contributes to national and international ocean governance processes, engaging in platforms such as UN consultations, climate conferences, and youth networks. The organization promotes ecosystem-based approaches, sustainable fisheries, and blue economy solutions, linking scientific understanding with community knowledge. Through its integrated approach, CEHRDF strengthens community resilience, environmental awareness, and policy influence, contributing to the protection of marine ecosystems and the long-term sustainability of coastal livelihoods in the Bay of Bengal region.
