The United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact) is a special initiative of the United Nations Secretary-General dedicated to sustainability , which originated from a proposal by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2000. Created from a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, it is based on ten fundamental principles in the areas of human rights , labor practices , environmental protection and anti-corruption , and aims at integrating them into the strategy and operations of companies.
