Activities
The Peruvian-Japanese Center for Seismic Research and Disaster Mitigation (CISMID) was established in 1986 by the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FIC) of the National University of Engineering (UNI) and funded through cooperation with the Government of Japan via its International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Throughout its years of operation, CISMID has contributed to the implementation of nationally and internationally significant infrastructure projects through numerous research projects. Likewise, its contribution to disaster mitigation has been significant, carrying out various seismic microzonation studies of a large number of cities nationwide and contributing research on materials and technologies for the construction of earthquake-resistant social housing. Many of these projects have culminated in undergraduate theses for numerous students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at UNI.
