Activities
The Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) is a Chartered Public University, sitting on 75.99 hectares of land in Karen Ward of Langata Sub-County in Nairobi County. The university is along Magadi Road, Karen, 25 Kilometres Southwest of the Nairobi City Centre and adjacent to Nairobi National Park.
MMU has a proud and distinct history having evolved from a telecommunication tertiary institution to a university. MMU traces its roots to Central Training School (CTS) which was founded in 1948 as an East African Telecommunications Training Institution. Following the dissolution of the East African Community in 1977, it changes into the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (KPTC) Training School. In 1992, KPTC Training School was rebranded as the Kenya College of Communications Technology (KCCT). After division of KPTC into the Postal Corporation of Kenya, TKL, and the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK), KCCT was managed under CCK from 2006 to 2008. In November 2008, the institution was elevated to the status of Multimedia University College of Kenya (MMUCK) and officially recognized as a constituent college of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). On March 1, 2013, it received its charter as a Public University and renamed Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU), solidifying its commitment to academic excellence as outlined in the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012.
