Papua New Guinea (PNG), with its extensive coastline and numerous islands, is situated in a region exceptionally prone to natural disasters, particularly tsunamis and earthquakes. These risks are compounded by the effects of climate change, including rising sea levels and increased frequency of severe weather events. In light of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDGs) calling for urgent action to confront climate change and build climate resilience, it is critical for educational institutions in PNG's Maritime Provinces to implement comprehensive drills aimed at preparing students and communities for these potential disasters.
