Activities

Madagascar has developed public policies to promote the fisheries and aquaculture sector in order to support economic growth and meet the population's food needs. The key outlines of these policies are:

Development of artisanal fishing:  Madagascar has implemented measures to encourage artisanal fishing, which represents the majority of fish production in the country. This includes improving port infrastructure and providing subsidies for the purchase of boats and fishing equipment.

Aquaculture promotion:  Madagascar also encourages the development of aquaculture to increase fish production and reduce pressure on wild fish stocks. Subsidies are provided to farmers for the establishment of fish farms, and training programs are organized to improve the skills of fish farmers.
