Activities

The Milan Aquarium and Hydrobiological Station, among the oldest in the world, is housed in a Viennese Art Nouveau building next to the Arena Civica in Sempione Park. Following its centennial restoration, completed in 2006, the interior features educational and exhibition spaces with numerous freshwater and marine tanks containing over one hundred species of aquatic organisms. The library—open to the public—is one of the most prestigious in the field of marine biology. The Civic Aquarium, part of the City of Milan's Exhibitions and Science Museums Area, promotes research and dissemination in the field of aquatic sciences through courses and conferences. It is a dynamic venue that produces cultural events that bring art and science together and contributes to the enrichment of Milan's cultural landscape.
