Activities
Our activities focus on research, environmental education and community participation, for the conservation of marine coastal ecosystems in Ecuador.
Yemanyá – Water and Conservation is an Ecuadorian non-profit organization founded in 2024 in Esmeraldas. We are registered with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition of Ecuador.
Although we are a young organization, we have a team with more than 30 years of experience in research, conservation, environmental education and working with communities.
Our name honors Yemanyá, deity or orisha of the ocean, fish and navigators in the Yoruba culture, it refers to our formation and deep link with aquatic ecosystems, as well as the respect and connection with the Afro-Esmeraldan cultures and traditions.
Our logo —a mangrove— symbolizes the union of water, earth and air: the elements that sustain life on Earth.
