Activities
At the University of Gondar (Sept 2016 – Present), I serve as a Lecturer and Researcher, where my primary responsibilities encompass teaching, research, and institutional service. In teaching, I deliver core undergraduate courses including Limnology and Wetlands Management, Fisheries and Aquaculture, and Fisheries and Fish Disease, while actively participating in curriculum development, instructional planning, and student assessment. My research activities involve designing and managing independent and collaborative projects in fisheries, aquaculture, and environmental science, resulting in multiple peer-reviewed publications on topics such as Lake Tana fish production, wetland conservation, water hyacinth impacts, and Blue Nile River fisheries, as well as supervising undergraduate and graduate student research. In terms of institutional and community service, I have contributed through administrative leadership roles, including serving as Assistant Registerer for the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences (2026–present) and as Farm Manager (2018–2022), where I oversaw operational and research farm activities that support practical training and community-oriented agricultural extension. Additionally, my research outputs and teaching directly address local environmental and food security challenges, thereby serving the broader community by informing sustainable resource management practices and building local capacity in fisheries and aquaculture.
