The Joint Syndicate aims, by coordinating the actions of its members and working alongside them, to contribute to pollution prevention , coastal protection, and the preservation and conservation of the marine environment. It defends its own interests, those of the local authorities and public institutions that comprise it, and those of users of the sea and the coastline against any accident or intentional act whose causes or consequences affect, or are likely to affect, their interests.
Its scope of intervention extends to pollution and exceptional arrivals of waste, of whatever nature, occurring at sea or on the coastline, resulting from maritime transport , any other maritime, industrial or port activity, or from a natural or technological disaster.
