Considering the ocean's dimensions and complexities, the INCT on Biodiversity of the Blue Amazon established a broad national network of researchers with international collaborators from different fields of knowledge that will work together in the scope of converging to achieve the specific objectives, which include basic and applied research, training of human resources qualified in Marine Sciences and scientific dissemination and outreach.
The main objective of the INCT (National Institute of Science and Technology) for Biodiversity of the Blue Amazon is to establish a National Network for Cooperation in Science and Technology with broad capacity for research, human resource training, and outreach on the biological diversity of the Brazilian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and beyond, in an integrated and multidisciplinary manner. This aims to investigate and monitor the biodiversity, enabling qualified analyses to enhance predictive potential regarding the effects of climate change and anthropogenic impacts, and thus propose mitigation strategies for the conservation of biota and its biotechnological potential, as well as other ecosystem services. This proposal will therefore contribute significantly to Brazil's Decade of Ocean Science Plan.
