Activities
The Multidisciplinary Institute for Research and Productive and Social Development of the San Jorge Gulf Basin (IIDEPyS-GSJ) is an Executive Unit with dual dependency between the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco (UNPSJB), which is part of the National Patagonian Center Scientific and Technological Center (CCT CENPAT).
Its central objective is to enhance the capacities for the treatment and resolution of environmental problems (pollutants in land and water, access to land); biological problems (knowledge and conservation of biodiversity); economic problems (emerging production systems, artisanal fishing and agriculture); social and human problems (needs of the environment and the effects of economic activity on social relations); the valuation of ecosystem services in the basin; and the development of technologies (smart electrical grids and underwater acoustics).
To this end, IIDEPyS proposes inter-institutional collaboration and the production of knowledge on marine-coastal interaction and the adjacent oceanic environment, in matters related to the exploitation of its resources, spatial planning and the social, cultural and human dimension of Central Patagonia.
