Activities

Teaching and Learning

As a Lecturer since September 2016, you are deeply involved in instructional planning, curriculum development, and student assessment. You deliver core specialized courses within the aquatic sciences, including:

• AnSc 2051: Fisheries and Aquaculture
• NARM332: Limnology and Wetlands Management
• VETM 5191: Fisheries and Fish Disease
• Student Mentorship: You regularly supervise undergraduate research projects, guiding the next generation of animal and veterinary scientists.

Research

You run independent and collaborative research projects from initial conception to final publication, with a focus on sustainable aquaculture, fisheries management, and local ecological health. Your active research contributions at the university include:

·        Co-authoring impact studies on local aquatic food systems, such as the 2024 study evaluating factors associated with fish production in Lake Tana.

·        Environmental engineering collaborations, including the evaluation and characterization of municipal wastewater generated right from the University of Gondar campus.

·        Agricultural optimization research, testing local sustainable alternatives like using banana peels in poultry feed to improve production systems.

Community Engagement and Professional Service

You consistently translate academic knowledge into community and institutional development through targeted professional service:

·        Completed the Higher Diploma Program (HDP) in Teaching Methods at the University of Gondar to advance active learning and instructional quality.

·        Engaged in continuous institutional capacity building, including recent university-hosted training sessions on R Software for Data Analysis and Quality Management Systems (ISO/IEC 17025) in partnership with the Animal Health Institute (AHI).

Academic Leadership and Administration

Beyond the classroom and the field, you have taken on critical administrative leadership roles within the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences (CVMAS) to keep the institution running smoothly:

·        Assistant Registrar (April 2026–Present): You currently provide vital administrative leadership for the college, overseeing student records, admissions, and academic registration workflows.

·        Farm Manager (August 2018–January 2022): You directed both the day-to-day operational activities and the specialized research projects hosted at the college’s farm facility, ensuring an active learning and testing environment for students and faculty.
