Activities
The Department of Physics is a medium-sized department with a friendly atmosphere and an excellent relationship between students and staff. With a research community of 28 academic staff and some 50 postdoctoral assistants and postgraduates, drawn from the UK and overseas, research at the Department is outstanding; with the RAE 2008 placing the Department firmly in the top 5 in the UK. We have very good facilities for teaching and a number of state-of-the-art facilities for research in areas such as nanoscience and photonics.
