Activities
The School's research and teaching facility for marine sciences is the Institute of Marine Sciences Laboratories (member of the MARS network ), an internationally renowned marine station. The station is located at the mouth of Langstone Harbour on the Eastern edge of the city of Portsmouth, 5 kilometres from the main campus . The original site was on Hayling Island, but in 1997 the University acquired the current 2 hectares site from the Ministry of Defence which they had used for submarine and other naval research.
