Subject Area

Marine Ecology
Activities
Studies on ecology and dynamics of planktonic stages of marine fishes. Relationships between ichthyoplankton and the rest of plankton. Effects of hydrography on spatial and temporal distribution patterns of ichthyoplankton. Assessment of physiological condition of larvae. Studies on taxonomy and systematic of early life history stages of teleostean fishes. Ecology of reproduction of fishes. Studies on spawning areas and periods, and on the influence of environmental factors on the spawning strategies of adult fishes.
Research mesopelagic fish species are occupying prominent place among my interests. I have been working both in biogeography and patterns of vertical migration and aggregations of this important group of fishes, and on their function in the marine food chains. I am currently working on the study mesopelgic fishes (both larvae and adults) collected across the Atlantic to study their role in carbon fluxes through the water column.
