Eric
Gilman is a fisheries conservation
scientist. He conducts research on methods to mitigate and manage fisheries
bycatch of threatened species; inputs for evaluating alternative fisheries bycatch
management strategies; effects of fisheries on pelagic ecosystem structure and
dynamics; fisheries electronic monitoring systems; and abandoned, lost
and discarded fishing gear. He is a Senior Principal Scientist of the Fisheries Conservation
Research Group and member of The Safina Center’s Fellows Network. He has a PhD from the
University of Tasmania School of Geography and Environmental Studies,
Australia; MSc from Oregon State University Department of Oceanography, USA;
