Subject Area
Physical Oceanography
Marine and Coastal Engineering
Activities
Research on tidal inlet dynamics and coastal processes in general. Responsible on preparing, collecting and processing of physical oceanographic data at several coastal inlets.
Region of Study
Ria Formosa Barrier Island System, Southern Portugal
Skills
Prepare and undergo current measurements at a multi-inlet system using a boat mounted Acoustic Doppler Currentmeter Profiler (ADCP). Prepare and undergo topographic and bathymetric surveys. Develop protocols and computer scripts to process the collected dat. Specialised on wave-currents processes and sediment transport;
Monitor the dredging activities on a navigable channel. Elaborate reports on the impacts of those activities regarding the physical impacts on the adjacent coastline and channel stability. Conceptual model developments based on regional sediment management actions. Performing of local detail sediment budget computation and sediment transport pathways;
