Brown algae collection, sorting and identification and proper storage
Collections are done throughout the entire coastal shores of South Korea.
Samples and brought to the laboratory (Plant Phylogeny Lab/Marine Brown Algae Resource Bank, College of Natural Sciences, Chosun University) where they are identified and prepared into silica gel, formalin, culture and herbaria vouchers.
Morphology and molecular analyses and done using various gene markers.
New reports of species new to Korea are prepared and published.
Publications of novel taxa within the phaeophyceae are also underway.
Other works include day-to-day management of the laboratory/resource bank.
