Main research and teaching focuses on:
1) Taxonomy, life cycles and ecology of parasites of aquatic organisms with special reference to the biology of flukes and parasites of gastropod and bivalve molluscs and its use as bioindacators of Global and climate Change.
2) Studies of the role of invertebrates in the transmission processes of helminths of both wild and cultivable aquatic organisms in the Yucatan Peninsula.
3) the transmission patterns in long-term time series in helminths of aquatic organisms in the Celestún lagoon.
4) environmental microbiology with special emphasis on bacterial communities as indicators of environmental stress caused by the oil industry and their role in the degradation of both organic matter and hydrocarbons.
