My current research activities are focused on ocean governance, blue economy, marine spatial planning, and the analysis of conflicts and synergies among ocean economy activities in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As part of my MSc in Environmental Management at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), I study how different maritime and coastal activities interact within the same marine and coastal space, including offshore oil and gas, fisheries, ports and logistics, coastal communities, tourism, environmental protection, scientific research, innovation, and maritime security.

My research aims to identify environmental, socioeconomic, operational, spatial, and regulatory conflicts among these activities, while also exploring opportunities for cooperation, coexistence, shared use, improved governance, and sustainable development. This work is connected to the broader context of Brazil’s Blue Amazon, where economic activities, environmental protection, traditional uses of the sea, energy security, and strategic maritime interests coexist in a complex ocean governance environment.

My academic background in Oceanography from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) provides the scientific foundation for this research, particularly in relation to marine environmental processes, coastal and offshore systems, marine pollution, fisheries, environmental monitoring, and oceanographic data interpretation.

My professional experience complements this research through more than 15 years of work in marine environmental management, offshore environmental licensing, environmental impact assessment, oceanographic and environmental monitoring, METOCEAN applications, oil spill preparedness, emergency response planning, and regulatory engagement for offshore oil and gas projects in Brazil. I have worked on environmental studies, licensing processes, monitoring programs, technical reports, stakeholder interfaces, and emergency preparedness initiatives in several Brazilian sedimentary basins, including Campos, Santos, Sergipe-Alagoas, Foz do Amazonas, Pará-Maranhão, and Ceará/Potiguar.

I have also strengthened my strategic perspective through studies in Ocean Economy and Governance at the Brazilian Naval War College and Maritime Strategy through FEMAR in partnership with the Brazilian Naval War College. These experiences expanded my understanding of maritime strategy, ocean policy, maritime power, marine governance, and the strategic relevance of Brazil’s Blue Amazon.

My broader objective is to connect ocean science, environmental management, offshore operational experience, and maritime governance to support more integrated, evidence-based, and sustainable decision-making for the use of marine and coastal areas.
