In the last 10 years I have been developing work on environmental contamination and eutrophication projects in coastal areas (including lagoons and mangroves). Currently, I am participating in a funded project to evaluate metal and nutrient pollution in magroves of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Also, I participate in other project that will validate an IA model to estimate nutrients in the coastal Sourth Atlantic Ocean. This project was recently endorsed by IOC-UNESCO as a Decade Action. I am experienced in organizing and managing field and laboratory work, as well as data analysis and interpretation. During my master's degree i developed the Dredging Sensitivity Index (DSI) to evaluate the geochemical conditions of the sediments, as well as environmental and socioeconomic impacts to identify areas (un)suitable for dredging. During my Ph.D., I identified the descriptors and causes of water transparency events in Laguna de Araruama, which will help decision-making to develop a more effective environmental management of the lagoon. I would like to be part of a team where I can use my knowledge, but more important, where I could develop other hard skills such as isotopic studies, phytoplankton nutrition, and geochemical cycles. I am also interested in oceanographic expeditions and ocean literacy.
