Susete Pinteus holds a PhD in Science, Technology and Management of the Sea - University of Aveiro since 2021; a master degree in Marine Resources Biotechnology (2011), and a graduation in Marine Biology and Biotechnology (2007) by Instituto Politécnico de Leiria. Currently she is Junior Researcher at Instituto Politécnico de Leiria. She has published 53 articles in peer reviewed journals; 11 section(s) of books and has 3 patents plus 1 pending; (Scopus H-index: 24); and received 13 awards/honors/disctinctions. She participated in 22 funded projects and was part of the organization committee of 14 scientific events. She is guest editor of the Marine drugs journal, and Review Editor for Frontiers in Pharmacology journal and Frontiers in Marine Science. Throughout her academic and professional career, she has acquired vast experience in extracting bioactive compounds from marine organisms, having as main target molecules with antimicrobial, antioxidant, photoprotection, anti-ageing, antitumor and antifouling properties. She has particular interest in blue bioeconomy, seaweed biorefinery strategies, biodiversity preservation and sustainability. She is the PI of SEA-UP "Seaweed Exploration and Advancement - Unlocking Potential (FCT funded), and of ERMERGING - Exploring Marine InvadErs as Response to Global EnvIroNmental challenGes . She currently holds a FCT - CEEC contract 2023.06631.CEECIND/CP2852/CT0003.
