Research in farming of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Includes aspects as: Feed,feeding and nutrition, environmental aspects, diseases, breeding.The main focus of my work has been on fish nutrition and fish physiology. Studies on nutritional requirements and feed composition for various cold and warmwater fish species (salmonids, bass, bream and eel) have been conducted. In specific protein and fat quality (amino acid and fatty acid profiles) have been investigated in fish meal and fish oil as well as in alternative protein and fat sources as ingredients in fish feed to fulfill the specific nutritional requirements of the specific fish species. I have recently moved my research area in the direction of breeding in Rainbow trout with specific reference to growth and feed utiliation. The research also includes environmental aspects of fish farming in relation to fish feed and feeding/management strategies. Additionally I am involved in an EU Conserted Action project aiming at disseminating results from EU-funded research projects within aquaculture to the danish aquaculture sector.
