The Honduran Institute of Earth Sciences (IHCIT) is part of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), which is an institution of the State of Honduras, with legal personality, and enjoys the exclusive right to organize, direct and develop.
The main purpose of the Honduran Institute of Earth Sciences is to study all phenomena related to the structure, physical conditions and evolutionary history of the Earth in such important areas as hydrogeology and the study of natural and atmospheric phenomena.
