Activities
- The National Institute of Meteorological Research, which belongs to Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), was founded in 1978. As the only atmospheric science research institute in Korea, we have performed a variety of research tasks associated with KMA. With the goal of becoming the world’s 6th best in meteorology, we have concentrated on R&D activities to produce high-quality meteorological information.
- We have actively promoted research projects to improve the accuracy of weather forecasting such as rain, typhoons and heavy snowfall, which account for more than 90% of all natural disasters. In addition, we have accomplished remarkable research achievements in major current issues such as climate change science associated with global warming. We also plan to promote new projects in various fields including the global environmental system, applied meteorology and weather policy through academia-industry-research cooperation and international joint research.
