Activities

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has launched a 2 year M. Sc. Programme (4-semester course) in Life Science commencing from July 2009. Students will be enrolled on the basis of merit from any discipline of biological sciences including Zoology/ Botany/ Microbiology/ Physiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biophysics/ Molecular Biology/ Pharmacology/ Agriculture as their honors subjects and disciplines with honors in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics having Zoology/ Botany/ Physiology/ Microbiology etc. as one of the pass subjects. NIT-Rourkela formerly known as Regional Engineering College (REC) is one of the premier national level institution for technical education in the country. In accordance with glorious decades of name and fame of the institution in various fields of Engineering, Physical & Chemical Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science, outstanding faculties have been recruited for teaching and research in Life Science Department. The course curriculum is designed in a manner to include all essential and advanced fields of Life Science. After completion of the Masters programme at NIT-Rourkela there will be opportunity for the students for entering into research programme of the Institute leading to a Ph.D. degree. The Department will do the best to guide them for placement in industry or clearing NET/GATE exams according to their carrier goals.
