I am a marine biologist working for the African Aquatic Conservation Fund (AACF) and a member of the CCAHD (Consortium for the Conservation of Atlantic Humpback Dolphins). I have over five years of field experience in marine and aquatic mammal conservation, focusing on the Atlantic humpback dolphin in Senegal and the African manatee in Guinea. My work includes photo-identification, population monitoring, acoustic surveys, and bycatch risk assessment. I also collect and filter water samples for environmental DNA (eDNA) in partnership with the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. I collaborate closely with local communities, fishers, and marine protected areas, combining scientific research with stakeholder engagement and applying innovative methods like eDNA to improve the conservation of rare and endangered aquatic species.
