The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO is organizing the above mentioned meeting to be held in the 'Centro de Investigaciones Oceanograficas e Hidrograficas del Caribe' (CIOH) in Cartagena, Colombia from 4th to 5th December 2014). The Task Team on Tsunami Services Model group was created in the Ninth Session of the Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Tsunami and other Coastal Hazards Warning System for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (ICG/CARIBE-EWS) in St. Thomas, United States of America to describe tsunami services as part of the Caribbean Tsunami Warning System, including the current capabilities, required information, products, and services to propose a system model to serve as a guideline toward a fully functional Caribbean Tsunami Warning System. Tentative topics to be discuss: • Experience from ICG/NEAMTWS, ICG/PTWS, and ICG/IOTWS on Tsunami Warning Systems, and new products. • Current status in the Caribbean region regarding monitoring and detection networks (WG1 ). • Current status in the Caribbean region regarding tsunamigenic sources, existing tsunami inundation maps and tsunami modeling capabilities (WG2). • Current status in the Caribbean region regarding definition and composition of tsunami early warnings and products, methods, and best practices for effective procedures for end-to-end communication and dissemination (WG3).
