Subject Area
Marine and Coastal Engineering
Activities
Coastal and marine specialist focused on coastal engineering, hydro-oceanography, and integrated coastal zone management. His work covers numerical modeling of coastal dynamics, including hydrodynamic and water-quality modeling (Delft3D-FLOW/WAQ) and spectral wave modeling (SWAN), as well as longshore sediment-transport analysis and shoreline-change assessment. He carries out geospatial/GIS characterization of coastal and marine systems (bathymetry, coral crests, seagrass meadows, coastal geomorphology) and applies these analyses to the design of nature-based and structural solutions for beach restoration, dune systems, and coastal protection. He also develops coastal zone management guidelines and provides technical support for environmental impact assessment and regulatory compliance, with active work in the Mexican Caribbean (Quintana Roo), the Pacific coast, and the wider Caribbean, including hydrodynamic studies of coastal lagoons in Cuba.
