Breno A. Toste concluded his Degree in Marine Biology in 2011, through the University of Algarve. Posteriorly, he completed the Master Erasmus Mundus in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation in 2013. Studying at Ghent University and University of Oviedo. Accomplishing his thesis at the Department of Oceanography and Fisheries, University of the Azores. As thesis topic "An Intensive Fishing Experiment of Demersal Fish Assemblage in a Seamount,(Azores, NE Atlantic)". Breno also has the Local Skipper license and the Divemaster course.

Research interests - Marine ecology including community studies, behaviour, telemetry and conservation, mainly of fish and marine mammals. Others - Whale watching, ecotourism, fishing, spearfishing and diving.
