The major activity at present is coordinating the participation of Spain in the different International Oceanographic Organizations: -Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL) -Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC-UNESCO) -Convention for the Protection of the marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR) -Marine Board of the European Science Foundation (ESF) -UN Advisory Body of Experts on the Law of the Sea (ABE-LOS) -Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) -International Council for the Exploration of the Seas (ICES) -Commission Internationale pour l'Exploration Scientifique de la mer Méditerranée (CIESM) -General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) -Fishery Committee for the Eastern Central Atlantic (CECAF) -International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) -International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) -International Seabed Authority (ISA) -International Whaling Commission IWC) -Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) -Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice under the Convention on Biological Diversity (SBSST).
