Dr. Feng Zhou is a senior research scientist in physical oceanography in the Second Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources (SIOMNR), China. His research interests include coastal ocean dynamics, regional ocean numerical modelling, physical-biochemical interactions, coastal/oceanic hypoxia, phytoplankton blooms. He has published about 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He got his BS in oceanography from the Ocean University of China in 2000, his MS in physical oceanography at the Second Institute of Oceanography State Oceanic Administration in 2003, and his PhD in fluid mechanics from Zhejiang University in 2011. He was an academic visitor to the University of Plymouth (UK), Hamburg University (Germany) and University of Maine Systems (USA). Presently, he is a Deputy Director at the national level of the Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environmental Dynamics (SOED) and PI for the research team in the coastal ocean dynamics and ecosystem (CODE). He is also an Adjunct Professor in the School of Oceanography, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Ocean College, Zhejiang University. He is now in charge of the MORSE marine field station off the Yangtze estuary.
