Job Type
Research
Natural Resource Management
Subject Area
Climatology, Meteorology
Marine and Coastal Engineering
Physical Oceanography
Activities
During my time studying oceanography at the DU, I spend my last three years working on Hydrodynamic Modelling, Satellite Altimetry, Nutrient Cycling, CTD data collection, processing, I also did my MS
thesis in "Hydrodynamic Modelling of Tide Driven of North-eastern part of Bay of Bengla" using MIKE 3 Coastal Modelling software. During this research I was on
a deep sea vessel and surveyed almost twenty thousand square (20,000)
kilometer area in the Northern part of Bay of Bengal for 26 days (in one
leg). On that expedition I have also collected samples of sediment and
water (nutrient, phytoplankton and zoo-plankton).
I have done lab work in nutrient analysis, phtoplankton and zooplankton
identification and dinoflagellate cyst identification on a research
project.
Internship
During my internship at IISc, Bangalore my topics was "Sea Surface Height from
Satellite Altimetry, Hydrodynamic Model
and in-situ measurement of offshore of Cox’s
Bazar". Here I worked with French Scientist Stephane Calmant and Fabian Donald.
Mentoring
I also trained undergraduate and post graduate students on Hydrodynamic and ecological Modelling MIKE 3 (thesis group) CTD operation and data
processing in the Department of Oceanography, University of Dhaka.
Team Lead
Surveyed area
of twenty thousand (20,000) Square Kilometer between 20 - 21.5 degree
North Latitude and 89.5 - 92 degree East Longitude, maximum distance ran
about 181 Nautical Mile, maximum depth covered about 70 meter and spend
26 days in one leg in the Bay of Bengal.
During expedition we have collected:
1. CTD Data (Temperature, Salinity, Density, DO, pH, PAR, Fluorescence and Turbidity)
2. Water samples for nutrient, chlorophyll concentration, phytoplankton
and zooplankton (Niskin Sampler, Phytoplankton net and Zoo-plankton
net)
3. Sediment Samples (Vaan Veen Grabber)

Comment(s)
As an Oceanographer it is my duty to ensure sustainable management for
oceanic resource. In the vast area of Oceanography my interest on ocean modelling and offshore sea resources.
