Activities
Juan David is a Forest Engineer and Master in Forests and Environmental Conservation from the National University of Colombia. His work has focused on the ecology, management and sustainable use of natural forests. He has participated in different projects related to the ecology of mangrove forests, studies of natural regeneration and recovery of montane forests in northern Colombia and the design of regional agrarian plans.
Currently, he works as Senior Project Coordinator for South Pole leading the formulation and management of emission reduction projects (REDD, ARR, WRC), which includes the drafting of project design documents, validation, monitoring and verification support under different standards (T-VER, CDM, VERRA, GS4GGG) and local and international carbon schemes.
In addition, he has participated in the development of feasibility studies of projects for forest carbon certification, the characterization of causes and agents of deforestation and in the analysis of historical and future deforestation with tools of Geographic Information Systems. Recently, he has acquired extensive knowledge on the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification System (MRV) of mitigation actions in Colombia and Chile.
