Dr. Al-Said is Associate Research Scientist in the
Oceanography group; Ecosystem Based management of Marine Resources program;
Environment and Life Sciences Research Centre; Kuwait Institute for Scientific
Research. He received his PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry in 2008 from School of
Ocean and Earth Sciences, University of Southampton, UK. PhD project: the
influence of viruses on trace metal speciation during the life cycle of marine phytoplankton
Emiliania huxleyi. Dr. Turki lead and participated in many oceanography
group research activities and projects. Supervision of the following chemical
analysis of samples (inorganic nutrients, DO, Turbidity,TSS, TIS, BOD, COD, pH,
Trace metals; Cu, Ni, Co, Zn and Fe). In charge of the QA/QC of all the data
generated from the chemical analysis. Supervised training programmes and
courses for university’s undergraduate students, KISR and regional university's
staff. He has several publications and technical reports and presented his
research findings at international conferences.

Expert and interested in Trace
metals speciation (copper and iron), acquisition of trace metals by
phytoplankton, environmental analytical chemistry, taxonomic response to trace
metals addition, nutrients dynamics in Coastal waters and phytoplankton culture
experiment studies. publications in 1st class journals.
