Subject Area
Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology
Activities
- My research focuses on explaining the effect of dust storms on coastal phytoplankton communities in the North of Patagonia. We try to answer this scientific question by maintaining a dust monitoring station close to the coast, as well as performing microcosms and monoculture experiments.
- Participant in the maintenance of The Nuevo Gulf Oceanographic Station (GNEO-1) in Luis Piedrabuena harbor, Puerto Madryn city (since 2018). GNEO-1 is the first time-series oceanographic monitoring station in Nuevo Gulf to study the temporal variability of the physicochemical and biological processes. It is part of the Argentinean Marine Observatories Network (ROMA), the Global Ocean Acidification Observing Network (GOA-ON), and the NANO-DOAP Network.
- Participant in the maintenance of the microalgal collections of the Center for the Study of Marine Systems (CESIMAR - CCT CENPAT) and the Biology Oceanography Laboratory (LOBio).
Skills
Phytoplankton ecology, oceanographic measurements, study of temperate ecosystems.
